They’re both equipped with a Snapdragon 730, so they’re both capable of running the same games, apps, and basically anything else, pretty much the same.

While the A80 may seem like a more ‘premium’ phone, the Xiaomi Mi 9T makes up for it with the price you get with the phone. The A80 can barely count as a ‘mid-tier’ device, and its appeal is aimed at a different market than the Mi 9T. I’m always for affordable, yet capable devices, and this is where the Mi 9T wins over the A80.

The phones are quite different in terms of design. The A80 feels a bit more industrial and follows the same dual design and form factor, minus their rotating camera. The Xiaomi Mi 9T, on the other hand, as I mentioned earlier, is pretty eye-catching. The curved dynamic back creates a unique, and good-looking design, not to mention the weight/height difference of these devices.

The real winner at this point is you, the consumer. Both are great phones, but at the end of the day, you have to consider what you’re really looking for. The A80 is an attractive package, offering some revolutionary camera technology, a good display, high storage. and RAM, but for RM 2499. The Xiaomi Mi 9T has the same Snapdragon 730 chipset, a bigger battery, better camera, for less than RM 1000. That being said, for me, the Mi 9T wins on overall value, features and an attractive design and aesthetics.
