Leaders exchanged their year-end goals through a roundtable presentation. Several guests were presented with suggestions for ways their organization can think about digital wellness and mental health. Diversity, inclusion and education were also top participants.
Featured speaker was five-time Olympic gold medalist Katie Ledecky, who joined Chief Marketing Officer Brian Cooley for a Q&A. Ledecky, 22, shared his experience as a computer scientist building a popular social media company heading into the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics.

“Understanding how to use the Internet is an important part of my education,” said Ledecky, a student at Stanford. “It’s great to see so many smart people thinking about helping students stay safe and healthy online.”
Ledecky discussed how the Internet helped him set goals as a young swimmer and how it allowed him to become more socially connected to fans and brands. He also remembers stories from the 2012 and 2016 Olympics.
“I like to use social media to give my followers a behind-the-scenes look and involve them in my journey,” says Ledecky. “Whenever I can, I use social media to give advice and encouragement to young swimmers and students. It is important to me to develop a proper and engaging website. “

After the Q&A, founder Jon Chapman launched the new Digital Wellness Network, a public-private partnership of organizations, nonprofits and educators that empowers students to make healthy decisions and health-related technology.
In 2008, the founders believed that the Internet would play an important role in the development of young people. Four years later, a digital course was launched that teaches students how to navigate the online world safely and responsibly. Since then, Ignition: Digital Citizenship has engaged over three million students.
“We want students to walk away with more knowledge about how to be a good friend, how to be a good friend, and how to know when to step in and be a good citizen and citizen to help improve a situation,” Chapman said.

Altice USA brings Ignition to schools where the company serves. The Entertainment Software Association (ESA) Foundation and ESA member Take-Two have worked together to impact schools in many states.
“Our hope is that his course will help inspire students,” said Anastasia Staten, executive director of the ESA Foundation. “We want there to be an incentive so that they don’t face any of the issues and problems that can be faced online.”
According to Take-Two Vice President Alan Lewis, it’s time for media and technology companies to get behind digital health education.
